Jurgis Palaima
Jurgis Palaima (born October 18, 1914 in Aukštakaimis , Jonava district ; † October 21, 2009 ) was a Lithuanian sports psychologist , rector of the Sports University of Lithuania .
Life
In 1948 he completed his studies at the Lietuvos kūno kultūros institutas and from 1954 to 1958 the aspirantur at the chair for psychology in physical culture in Leningrad . In 1962 he received his doctorate on the subject of basketball training (lit. "Krepšininkų iniciatyvumo, savarankiškumo ir ryžtingumo ugdymas sporto treniruotės procese"). From 1950 to 1979 he was head of the Department of Education and Psychology, from 1954 to 1961 director of the LKKI, from 1979 to 1994 professor .
