Yuri Sergeyevich Piwowarow

Juri Sergejewitsch Piwowarow , Russian Ю́рий Серге́евич Пивова́ров (born April 25, 1950 in Moscow ) is a Russian historian and political scientist .

Life

Until 1972 Piwowarow studied at the Moscow State Institute for International Relations , then until 1975 at the Institute for World Economy and International Relations . Since 1976 he has been working in the social science branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences , the Institut Naučnoj Informacii po Obščestvennym Naukam (INION). He was director of this institute since 1998.

In 2015, after the major fire in the library there , he was accused of having acted negligently. Because of this and due to political pressure, he resigned his office and is now scientific director of the institute.
