Yuri Possochov

Jurij Mychajlowytsch Possochow ( Ukrainian Юрій Михайлович Посохов , Russian Юрий Михайлович Посохов Yuri Mikhailovich Possochow * 20th July 1964 in Woroschylowhrad , Ukrainian SSR , Soviet Union ) is a Ukrainian - Russian Ballet Dancers and choreographers .

Career

Jurij Possochow graduated from the Moscow Ballet School with Pyotr Pestov in 1982 and was hired by the ballet troupe of the Bolshoi Theater . He took part in the premiere of the first Balanchine ballet at the Bolshoi ( The prodigal son of Sergei Prokofiev in the title role).

In 1992 he signed a contract with Den Kongelige Ballet Copenhagen . A year later he was invited to the company of the San Francisco Ballet for the part of Prince Désiré in Sleeping Beauty (choreography by Helgi Tómasson ) . From 1994 to 2006 he was head of this group.

In 1999 he organized a tour of their dancers through Russia. The program took place under the title “Ballet Without Borders”.

He has been working as a choreographer since the late 1990s. His most recent work at the Bolshoi Theater (July 2017) was a ballet developed together with Kirill Serebrennikow about the personality of Rudolf Nureyev , which, however , was canceled by the director of the theater - Vladimir Urin - before the premiere .
