The Association of Lawyers , based in Vienna, is one of the largest academic associations in Austria with around 2500 members . It appears in particular through regular club evenings and the annual Juristenball in the Hofburg . The magazine Nova & Varia acts as a membership magazine and is free for association members. The aims of the association are to represent the professional interests of the members, further training of colleagues, social activities and charitable status.

history

The Bar Association is a group trainee lawyer in Vienna of the postwar back. On September 13, 1948, they founded the Vienna Association of Students. With the entry in the list of lawyers for numerous members and officers, the association was renamed "Wiener Juristenverein - Konzipientenverband" in 1951. It has been operating as a legal association since 1988 .

Organs and organization

The organs according to Austrian association law and statutes are the general assembly, board and arbitration tribunal of the association. The board of directors of the Lawyers' Association was newly elected at the General Assembly on March 1, 2019. Alexander Taiyo Scheuwimmer was elected President.

Internally, the lawyers' association is still organized in five clubs: Today, the Club of Students is the largest association of this professional group with around 550 members. The Lawyers Club has the largest number of members; Together with Club 2000, it has over 1200 lawyers as its members. The Club Justice has around 300 judges, trainee judges, public prosecutors, university professors, assistants, legal interns and students among its members. The Club of General Jurists has more than 450 civil servants, notaries and notary candidates, accountants / tax advisors and commercial lawyers . The Lawyers' Association originally consisted of four clubs in 1951, Club 2000 was added later. Each club has a club chairman who is responsible for safeguarding the club's interests in the presidium of the general association as well as externally, in particular vis-à-vis the respective registry office.
