Juste-Aurèle Meissonnier

Juste-Aurèle Meissonnier (* 1695 in Turin ; † July 31, 1750 in Paris ) was a draftsman, painter, sculptor, goldsmith and architect of the French Rococo .

Life

Juste-Aurèle learned from his father Etienne Meissonnier before he went to Paris. There he worked for a number of years in the tapestry manufacture . In September 1724 he received a royal diploma in goldsmithing ( brevet de la coopération des Marchands Orfèvres Joailliers ). In 1726 he became the official draftsman of Louis XV. ( Dessinateur de la Chambre et du Cabinet du Roi ; successor to Jean Bérain the Younger , 1678–1726). Since then he has been responsible for the court festivals at the French court (see Menus-Plaisirs du Roi ). In 1729 he arranged the festival including fireworks on the occasion of the birth of the heir to the throne in Versailles . Meissonnier was involved in the interior design of Choisy Castle and Fontainebleau Castle .
