Justin DuVall

Justin DuVall OSB (* 1951 in Toledo , Ohio ) is a Benedictine and retired Archabbot of the Archabbey of St. Meinrad .

Life

In 1973 he entered the Benedictine Archabbey of St. Meinrad in Indiana, where he made perpetual profession on August 24, 1977 in the hands of Archabbot Gabriel Verkamp . He was ordained a priest on April 30, 1978 . Archabbot Timothy Sweeney made him prior of the Archabbey in 1984 . He held this office until the Sweeney's death in 1995. At the same time he was assistant librarian in the monastery library from 1979 to 1993. From 1995 to 1996, Father Justin was the deputy dean of St. Meinrad's Theological College. On December 1, 2004, he was elected 9th Abbot and 6th Archabbot of St. Meinrad. On January 21, 2005 Archbishop Daniel Mark Buechlein donated him the ordination of the abbot , handing over the pontificals to him . On June 2, 2016, Justin DuVall announced his resignation from the office of Archabbot of St. Meinrad. The previous Prior Kurt Stasiak was elected as his successor .
