Justina Pinheiro

Justina Pinheiro (born August 2, 1966 ) is a former Portuguese judoka . She was third in the European Championship in 1994.

Athletic career

Justina Pinheiro fought in the super lightweight, the weight class up to 48 kilograms. She was Portuguese national champion four times from 1993 to 1996. At the 1993 World Championships , she lost in the quarter-finals against the Japanese Ryōko Tamura and finished seventh. The following year at the European Championships in Gdansk in 1994, she lost to French Sylvie Meloux in the semi-finals , and won the battle for a bronze medal against Italian Giorgina Zanette . In 1995 she lost in the second round of the European Championships in Birmingham . At the 1995 World Championships , she won a fight and lost twice, ultimately finishing ninth. In 1996 Justina Pinheiro came seventh at the European Championships . She took the same place a year later at the European Championships in Ostend . At the 1997 World Championships in Paris she reached the semi-finals with a victory over the South Korean Oh Soon-young . After a defeat against the Cuban Amarilis Savón , Pinheiro lost the battle for bronze against the Swiss Monika Kurath .
