European Judo Championships 1996

The 1996 European Judo Championships took place from May 16-19 in The Hague . It was the first European Judo Championships in the Netherlands since 1972 (men in Voorburg) and 1979 (women in Kerkrade). The host country had already topped the medal table last year, and the Netherlands now presented five title winners in front of their home crowd.

Paweł Nastula and Ulla Werbrouck in the light heavyweight and Yolanda Soler in the super light weight were able to win their third title in a row. Angelique Seriese won her fifth title in a row, but switched between the heavyweight and the open class.
