1973 European Judo Championships
The 1973 European Judo Championships for men took place in Madrid from May 12th to 13th . Eight years earlier, Madrid had hosted the 1965 European Men's Championships .
The host country team won a gold medal through Santiago Ojeda . Dietmar Hötger was the only one who was able to successfully defend his title from the previous year.
