Michel Algisi

Michel Algisi (born April 16, 1950 ) is a former French judoka who won three bronze medals at European championships.

In 1968 Michel Algisi won a bronze medal in the weight class up to 65 kilograms at the European Cadet Championships . From 1972 to 1976 he fought in the lightweight up to 63 kilograms. 1972 and 1973 he was third in the French championships. At the European Championships in 1973 in Madrid he lost in the semifinals to Sergei Melnitschenko from the Soviet Union, after defeating Hungary's Ferenc Szabó , Algisi received the bronze medal. At the 1973 World Championships in Lausanne, he defeated Karl-Heinz Werner from the GDR in the quarter-finals . After his semi-final defeat against the Japanese Takao Kawaguchi, Algisi lost in the battle for bronze Schengeli Pizchelauri from the Soviet Union. In 1974, Algisi took third place at the Tournoi de Paris . As in the previous year, Algisi received a bronze medal at the European Championships in London in 1974 . Three weeks after the European Championships, he won his first French championship title. In 1975 Algisi retired in his opening match at the World Championships in Vienna against Schengeli Pizchelauri. In 1976, like 1974, he finished third at the Tournoi de Paris and shortly thereafter won his second championship title. At the European Championships in Kiev , he won his third bronze medal.
