European Judo Championships 2006

The 2006 European Judo Championships took place in Tampere from May 26th to 28th . It was the first European Judo Championships in Finland since Helsinki in 1989. In contrast to 1989, the judoka from the host country did not win a medal this time, Nina Koivumäki took fifth place in the lightweight and thus achieved the best Finnish placement.

Alina Alexandra Dumitru in the super lightweight was the only judoka who was able to successfully defend her title from last year, it was her third title in a row.
