Frédérique Chantal Marthe Jossinet (born December 16, 1975 in Rosny-sous-Bois ) is a former French judoka . She won an Olympic silver medal in 2004 and was three times European champion.

Athletic career

The 1.60 m tall Frédérique Jossinet mostly started in the super lightweight, the weight class up to 48 kilograms. In this weight class she was French national champion in 1994, 1997 and 2001. In 2008 she won the half light weight.

Jossinet was third in 1992 and second in 1993 at the European Junior Championships. In 1996 she was European team champion with the French team, and in 1997 she was third in the team world championships. In the summer of 1997 she won the Mediterranean Games . At the end of 1997, as in the previous year, she won the European team championships with the team. In 1998 she was second at the World Team Championships and won the European Team Championships for the third time in a row. In 1999 Jossinet was third at the Universiade in Palma de Mallorca, followed by bronze at the student world championships in 2000.

At the European Championships 2001 Jossinet won the title by beating Romanian Laura Moise-Moricz in the final . Three months later she won bronze at the Universiade in Beijing. In 2002 she defended her European title by beating Belarusian Tatyana Moskvina in the final . Three days after her individual title, she won the team title with the French team. In 2003 she reached the final of the World Championships in Osaka and won silver behind the Japanese Ryoko Tani . In 2004 she was defeated in the semifinals of the European Championships against Tatyana Moskvina, but won a bronze medal after winning the round of hope over the Italian Giuseppina Macrì . At the Olympic Games in Beijing she defeated Tatyana Moskvina with Ippon in the round of 16 after 15 seconds and reached the final with victories over the Chinese Gao Feng and the German Julia Matijass , where she lost to Ryoko Tani.

At the European Championships in 2005 she won the semifinals against Moskvina, in the final Jossinet lost to the Romanian Alina Alexandra Dumitru . In Rotterdam at the 2009 World Championships, she lost in the quarter-finals to the Spaniard Oiana Blanco . With victories over the Dutch Birgit Ente and the Romanian Dumitru in the Hope Round, Jossinet secured her fourth individual medal at world championships. 2010 in Tokyo she lost to Dumitru and against the Brazilian Sarah Menezes and finished fifth. At the European Championships in 2011, she lost to the Hungarian Csernoviczki, but won the battle for bronze against the Russian Lyudmila Bogdanova . At the 2011 World Championships in Paris, Jossinet lost to the Japanese Tomoko Fukumi in the quarterfinals , and lost to Sarah Menezes in the battle for bronze. Jossinet also finished fifth at the 2012 European Championships after losing to her compatriot Laëtitia Payet in the battle for bronze . At the 2012 Olympics, Payet also competed for France.
