1972 European Judo Championships for men
The 1972 European Judo Championships for men took place in Voorburg from May 12th to 14th . After 1957 in Rotterdam and 1960 in Amsterdam, it was the third European Judo Championships in the Netherlands.
The host nation's team topped the medal table thanks to two wins by Willem Ruska . Jean-Jacques Mounier won his third title in a row.
Three and a half months after the European Championships, the Olympic judo competitions took place in Munich . Willem Ruska also won two gold medals in Munich, the other four European champions from Voorburg each won a bronze medal in Munich, with Angelo Parisi winning his medal in the open class.
