European Judo Championships 2000
The 2000 European Judo Championships took place in Wroclaw from May 18th to 21st . Six years after the European Championships in Gdansk in 1994, title fights were held again in Poland. The judoka from the host country had won six medals six years earlier, including two golds. This time the bronze medal for Robert Krawczyk was the only medal.
While eight judoka had successfully defended their title in the previous year, only three female champions from 1999 managed to do so in 2000. Gella Vandecaveye in the light middleweight division won her fifth title in a row. Celine Lebrun in the light heavyweight division and Katja Gerber in the open class won their second title.
