Christine Cicot
Christine Cicot (born September 10, 1964 in Libourne ) is a former French judoka . She won an Olympic bronze medal and was world and European champion.
Athletic career
The 1.75 m tall judoka mostly competed in the light heavyweight division until 1986. At the European Championships in Pirmasens in 1984 , she reached the final and won silver behind the German Barbara Claßen . Two years later at the European Championships in London, she won a bronze medal in the open class. After finishing third at the French national championships in 1987, Christine Cicot switched to heavyweight division, where she had a national competitor of almost the same age as Nathalie Lupino .
At the European Championships in 1989 , Cicot finished seventh in the open class, while Lupino won bronze in the heavyweight division. In 1990 Cicot won the heavyweight division while Lupino won silver in the open class. In 1991 Cicot was fifth in the heavyweight division at the European Championships and seventh at the World Championships . In 1994 Cicot reached the final in the open class at the European Championships and won silver behind Monique van der Lee from the Netherlands . In 1995 Cicot won silver in the heavyweight division behind Russian Swetlana Gundarenko . In the 1996 Olympics Cicot defeated already in the second round of the Polish Beata Maksymow , but struggled with three wins in the repechage for the bronze medal by. At the 1997 World Championships in Paris, Cicot won the final against the Japanese Miho Ninomiya and was world champion. In 1998 she only lost to Gundarenko at the European Championships and received a bronze medal. At the 1999 World Championships , she finished fifth. In 2000 the Frenchwoman won bronze again at the European Championships . At the Olympic Games in 2000 , she finished fifth at the end of her career.
