Monique van der Lee

Monique van der Lee (born November 7, 1973 in Heerhugowaard ) is a former Dutch judoka . She was world champion in 1995 and four times European champion. She won medals at the Judo World Championships from 1991 to 1995 and all European Championships from 1990 to 1996.

Athletic career

Monique van der Lee was third in the Junior European Championships in 1987 in the weight class up to 66 kilograms, in 1988 she was second in the weight class up to 72 kilograms. In 1989 she was again third in the weight class over 72 kilograms, the heavyweight. In 1990 she was second in the Junior World Heavyweight Championships behind the Cuban Daima Beltrán .

After her active career, Monique van der Lee worked as a trainer, among other things she looked after Tessie Savelkouls , who was third in the 2017 European Championship.
