Christophe Gagliano

Christophe Gagliano (born May 22, 1967 in Paris ) is a former French judoka . He was Olympic Knight in 1996.

The 1.72 m tall Gagliano fought in the lightweight. In 1993 and 1998 he was French champion in this weight class.

At the European Championships in Prague in 1991 he lost in the quarterfinals against Magomedbek Aliyev from the Soviet Union, with three wins in the round of hope, Gagliano won a bronze medal. With the French team, Gagliano won team silver in 1991, team gold in 1993 and team bronze in 1994. At the European Championships in 1995 he won his second individual medal after 1991 when he received the silver medal after his final defeat against the German Martin Schmidt . The following year he lost in the European Championship semi-final against the Austrian Thomas Schleicher , but secured a bronze medal by defeating the German Davor Vlaskovac . At the Olympic Games in Atlanta he lost his first fight to the Brazilian Sebastian Pereira . Gagliano fought his way to the bronze medal with four wins in the hope lap.

Also at the European Championships in 1997 , Gagliano needed four wins in the round of hope after his opening defeat against the Portuguese Guilherme Bentes and received a bronze medal for it. A month after the European Championships, Gagliano won the title at the Mediterranean Games . At the 1997 World Championships in Paris he defeated the Latvians Vsevolods Zeļonijs in the semifinals , after his final defeat against the Japanese Kenzo Nakamura , Gagliano received the silver medal. He was still active until 2001, but won no more international individual medal. After his career, Gagliano worked as a coach.
