The correctional facility Luckau-Duben (abbreviated JVA Luckau-Duben ) is a correctional facility of the state of Brandenburg in Luckau, district Duben . The prison houses adult male and female offenders.
history
The Luckau-Duben JVA was built by the Brandenburg Ministry of Justice as part of a large-scale investment and new building program between 2002 and 2004. The building, which cost a total of € 53.8 million, was completely rebuilt and handed over in December 2004. The first prisoners moved in in March 2005. The old Luckau prison then closed. At the end of March 2017, Frank Schmökel was moved here from the Brandenburg / Havel penal system. The Higher Regional Court of Brandenburg had last instance has the laying on 5 December 2016 as assessor Schmökel certified not to be treated. Here he will serve his life imprisonment with subsequent preventive detention.
Jurisdiction
In the Luckau-Duben JVA, female prisoners serve their sentences in a closed prison (48 places) or sit in custody (15 places). It is the only correctional facility for female prisoners in Brandenburg. Furthermore, there are 266 places for male adult prisoners in a closed prison.

190 employees are currently employed in the Luckau-Duben prison, 140 of them in the general prison service. Furthermore, psychologists, educators and social workers are available to provide specialist support for the prisoners. A Protestant and a Catholic pastor are available. Medical care for the prisoners is made possible by contract doctors and nursing staff of the institution.
