The Stralsund correctional facility is a correctional facility in the city of Stralsund in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in northern Germany .
history
The correctional facility was put into service in March 2003. The old prison , which had been in operation since 1974, was demolished after moving into the new building. The factory halls built in a second construction phase were handed over for use in February 2007. In May 2009 the open prison department was opened in the Stralsund prison .
The total construction costs amounted to 25.5 million euros. The owner is the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Financing came from the state budget.
Occupancy
The prison has a capacity of 195 places, 55 of which are in the open prison section. Accommodation in the closed prison is generally in solitary confinement rooms. In exceptional cases, some common rooms are available for a maximum of three prisoners. In the open prison department, the prisoners are generally accommodated together.
Enforcement jurisdiction
According to the general enforcement plan of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the Stralsund prison is responsible for male convicts with prison sentences of up to three years as well as the execution of pre-trial detention for several judicial districts.
