The youth detention center in Wismar was the only youth detention center in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania until 2008 . It was located in the district town of Wismar in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany).
history
The building in which the JAA Wismar was housed is located in the center of the historic old town of Wismar in the immediate vicinity of the Wismar District Court . It was originally built as a poor house in 1890. Only since 1935 it is - consistent through all since that time just at the site of the institution existing forms of government - as a prison used. The youth detention center in Wismar has been located here since July 1, 1992 and was finally closed with effect from September 30, 2014. The youth arrest of male and female persons will in future be carried out for all district courts exclusively in the youth arrest unit of the Neustrelitz youth institution .
Occupancy
There are 16 detention places. They were generally accommodated in individual detention rooms. Common detention rooms with a maximum of two detainees were only permitted in exceptional cases.
Enforcement jurisdiction
According to the general enforcement plan of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the JAA Wismar was responsible for the enforcement of youth arrest (leisure, short and permanent arrest of a maximum of four weeks) for boys in the western judicial districts and girls in all judicial districts in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
