Juvenile delinquent

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Juvenile Delinquent is the last studio album by British blues musician Alexis Korner from 1984.

History of origin

After Korner launched Just Easy in 1978, he hadn't made a studio record before returning to the studio in October 1983. There he worked on many titles that he had written in the meantime. But at that time Korner became seriously ill and died on January 1, 1984 at the age of 55. He couldn't finish the album anymore. The six previously recorded tracks were put together on this album, while the other unfinished tracks from these sessions have not yet been released.

Live recordings

Live recordings of these songs in particular are very rare, as Korner died before the album was finished. However, there are various recordings among insiders:

  • King BB - Live at the Roundhouse 1982
  • Juvenile Delinquent - Live at the Roundhouse 1982
  • Mean Fool - Live on April 25, 1983 at the Marquee Club, London
  • Mean Fool - BBC taped December 1983

Track list

  1. Beirut ( Peter Sarstedt )
  2. Mean Fool (A. Korner)
  3. The Sphinx (Joey Alkes / Chris Fradkin / Mitch Rafal)
  4. Get Off of My Cloud ( Mick Jagger / Keith Richards )
  5. King BB (A. Korner)
  6. Juvenile Delinquent (A. Korner)

The titles

With Juvenile Delinquent and Mean Fool are two autobiographical songs on the album. This is very atypical for Korner. Korner had already recorded a cover version of the Rolling Stones song Get Off of My Cloud for an album of the same name together with Steve Marriott in 1975. Here he re-recorded the song, the arrangement is the same. With King BB Korner has recorded a homage to the blues musician BB King .

Musician

  • Alexis Korner - guitar, vocals
  • Colin Hodgkinson - bass
  • Alan Ross - guitar
  • Adam Sieff - slide guitar
  • Robin Lumley - Synthesizers
  • Morris Pert - percussion
  • Tony Hicks - drums

Equipment of the album

The “inner cover designed with attention to detail” comes from Peter Frame , the author of the Family Rock Trees and traces the influence of Korner through his students on the British music scene.

Reception history

In Musikexpress, Bernward Meier praises the “excellent edition of the record company”, which did not take advantage of the sad occasion to publish all sorts of half-finished and unauthorized items. He gives the mini-LP with the last six songs recorded by Korner 3 1/2 stars.
