Juzhnyje Island ( English ; Russian Остров Южный Ostrow Juschny , German 'South Island' ) is an island in the Highjump Archipelago off the Knox coast of the East Antarctic Wilkesland . It is the largest of the southern Taylor Islands .
Scientists from a Soviet Antarctic expedition mapped and named it in 1956. The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia translated the name into English.
