Károly Sas (* 1915 ; † unknown) was a Hungarian football player who won the French championship title with Olympique Marseille in 1937.

Career

Until 1933, the midfielder Sas belonged to a club from the Hungarian capital Budapest . In the run-up to the 1933/34 season, he moved to France to Red Star Olympique , which in the previous year had been one of the founders of the nationwide first division and was relegated to the also newly introduced second-highest division in its premiere season. With the team from the Paris area, the Hungarian won the second division in 1934 and thus achieved promotion to the top division. There Red Star fought to stay in the class, which was only achieved thanks to the better goal difference at the end of the 1935/36 season. In the summer of 1936, the midfielder moved to league rivals Olympique Marseille .

Sas made his first appearance for Marseille on the opening match day of the 1936/37 season and was sent off in the 86th minute of the game. Then he was initially called up regularly before he was no longer considered after the ninth game day. Thanks to the better goal difference against FC Sochaux , Marseille won the French championship title of 1937, to which Sas had contributed through appearances in seven games. However, he had not played for the teams since the end of October 1936 and moved against this background to the second division Olympique Alès . After two years in Alès, regular game operations ceased with the start of the Second World War . Sas then moved to Argentina, where he belonged to the capital club Boca Juniors from 1939 to 1940 .
