Köf

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Köf ( K leinlokomotive with ö IMOTOR (diesel engine) and f lüssigkeitsgetriebe) is the name of various series of small diesel engines of the German Railway and the German Federal Railroad provided for light shunting. For the operation of small locomotives , instead of train drivers, less well trained small train drivers were provided. This enabled considerable savings not only in terms of the vehicle, but also in terms of personnel. (The renumbering of the series 260/261 by the Deutsche Bundesbahn in 1987 to small locomotives of the series 360 ff. Results from this difference.)

  • Köf II 37 kW - 110 kW (50 PS - 150 PS), from 1930
  • Köf III , 177 kW (240 PS), from 1959

Officially, the designation was in use until 1968 ( Deutsche Bundesbahn ) and 1970 ( Deutsche Reichsbahn ), but the term is also used colloquially afterwards and also for similar locomotives from other railway companies.

Austria

The names and abbreviations were also used in Austria with the same content.

Denmark

In the spelling Køf there are 40 shunting locomotives that Danske Statsbaner von Frichs in Århus had built between 1966 and 1969 as DSB tractor 251-290 . When Railion Danmark A / S took over all of DSB's freight train activities in 2001, a large number of these locomotives were also taken over.
