Cologne mass

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kölsche Mass is the celebration of the Eucharist / Holy Mass in the Roman Catholic Church and the Old Catholic Church , which is celebrated in the Rhineland in the local dialect , in the Cologne area the Kölsch .

On February 29, 1976, based on an idea from Pastor Josef Metternich, the first Eucharist was held in the Cologne dialect in St. Liebfrauen von Köln-Mülheim.

Especially in the time of the carnival it is an expression of the so-called Rhenish Catholicism . The Roman rite or the old Catholic rite are observed during mass. Several prayers and the sermon or the entire mass are said in Kölsch and the traditional hymns are replaced by Kölsch songs.

Kölsches Our Father

The Lord's Prayer is slightly modified in the Kölsche Mess :

Our father em heaven,
things name halde mer hellich
thing Rich loß kumme;
things wave should each,
like em heaven su op Äde.
Jev us hück dat brood, dat mer breaks.
Dun verjevve all us Schold,
like och meer verjevve däm, dä schöldich it.
Let us be before the slaughter,
and let us go from the Düvel.
For do the hair and the strength and the
glory
and the essence. Amen

Kölsch songs

For example, songs by the Bläck Fööss or the Höhner are used . Well-known hymns have also been rewritten in Cologne dialect, which are sung to the familiar melodies. There are also specially composed songs and entire masses, such as B. the "Kölsche Mess für Urjel, Tröt un Trumm" by Werner Brock.
