The Könemann bar range , a family business based in Hagen , is a wholesaler for books and other media and was founded in 1972, at that time as part of the Press Grosso Könemann, and has been operating independently as Könemann GmbH & Co. KG since 1986 .
Until 2012 it was one of the four largest book wholesalers (alongside Koch, Neff and Volckmar , Libri and Umbreit ) and employed around 250 people. In October 2011 it was announced that the company Könemann GmbH & Co. KG will be merged into a joint venture with the Libri bar range in August 2012 . The neuentstandene from this merger company operates as Barsortiment Könemann Vertriebs GmbH , based in Hamburg and business premises in Hagen . The core of the agreement was that the Könemann warehouse in Hagen would be abandoned and customers would henceforth be supplied from the Libri warehouse in Bad Hersfeld, in the name of and for the account of Barsortiment Könemann Vertriebs GmbH . The shares have been distributed so that the Libri bar range holds 51% of the shares, the brothers Stefan and Jörg Könemann 49%. In addition to Stefan Könemann, the managing director is also the managing director of Libri, Eckhard Südmersen.
The company Barsortiment Könemann Vertriebs GmbH is also part of the Tolino Alliance via the co-owner Libri GmbH .
