The Könkämäälven [ ˈkøŋkæmæˌeno ] ( Finnish ) or Könkämäälven ( Swedish ) is a river in Lapland . It flows away from Lake Kilpisjärvi and ends after 90 kilometers near the town of Markkina , where it joins the Lätäseno to form the Muonio älv ( Muonionjoki ). Together with the Muonio älv and the Torne älv ( Tornionjoki ), the Könkämäneno forms the border between Finland and Sweden . The Könkämäo is a popular fishing spot.
