Rudolf Bürger (born October 31, 1908 in Temesvár , Kingdom of Hungary , Austria-Hungary , † January 20, 1980 ) was a Romanian football player and coach . He played 107 games in Divizia A and took part in the 1930 World Cup , the 1934 World Cup and the 1938 World Cup.
Career as a player
Rudolf Bürger, a Banat Swabian , began his career in his home town of Temesvár with Chinezul Timișoara , which dominated Romanian football in the 1920s and won six championship titles in a row. Bürger was already actively involved on the way to the last of these championship titles. Then the team broke up in 1927, as many players Ripensia Timișoara joined - a newly formed professional team that was not yet admitted to the Romanian championship. In 1930 Bürger decided to switch to Ripensia as well. After founding the Romanian professional league Divizia A in 1932, Ripensia was also there, so that Bürger played in the highest Romanian football league from then on. It was there that Bürger came to his first assignment on September 11, 1932 when they lost to CFR Bucharest . With Ripensia he won four championship titles and fought a duel with permanent rivals Venus Bucharest . After the outbreak of World War II , the game was stopped and Bürger had to end his career due to a knee injury.
National team
Bürger played 34 international matches for the Romanian national soccer team . He made his debut on September 15, 1929 against Bulgaria . As one of the few players, Bürger took part in the first three world championships. At the Football World Cup in Uruguay in 1930 and the Football World Cup in France in 1938 , he came to two missions each, while he did not get a chance at the Football World Cup in Italy in 1934 .
Career as a coach
After his active career, Bürger devoted himself to coaching. His first stop was Politehnica Timișoara from 1942 . After the war he trained between 1946 and 1948 CAM Timișoara and between 1948 and 1951 AS Armata Timișoara before leaving his hometown for a season to look after Electroputere Craiova . However, he returned to Timișoara in 1953, where he worked in different areas with the support of Nicolae Kovacs and Zoltán Beke at Știința Timișoara and then until 1970 at CFR Timișoara .
