The Körschtal Viaduct is a two-lane viaduct built in the course of bypassing Ostfildern-Nellingen in Baden-Württemberg , with which the traffic connection between the district town of Esslingen and the A8 has been significantly improved. It was built from 1991 to 1993 using the incremental launching method and opened to traffic on September 6, 1995. The 724 m long Körschtal Viaduct, in which it spans the Körschtal, crosses a 110 kV high-voltage line from EnBW and a sewage treatment plant. The maximum height above the ground is 55 m.
During the construction of the bridge, 6,800 cubic meters of concrete , 660 tons of reinforcing steel and 440 tons of prestressing steel were used . Four years after the opening, bicycle traffic was banned because the heavy use by motorized traffic seriously endangered the safety of cyclists. (In 2013 there were 25,000 vehicles in both directions a day). This particularly affects pupils from Neuhausen . In summer 2018, a bicycle connection was built on the bridge by narrowing the lanes. The lanes for motorized traffic are 3.75 m wide, the bicycle / pedestrian area 2.75 m. It is separated from the lanes by a 90 cm high concrete wall.
