Østervold Observatory
The Østervold Observatory (Danish formerly Københavns Universitets Astronomiske Observatorium ) in the Botanical Garden of Copenhagen is an astronomical observatory that belongs to the University of Copenhagen and was operated until 1953.
Due to light pollution and vibrations from traffic, the preserved double telescope (36 cm refractor with a focal length of 4.9 m for optical observations and a 20 cm refractor with 4.8 m focal length for photographic recordings) no longer has any scientific significance. In 1953, the Brorfelde observatory south of Holbæk was therefore rebuilt.
The observatory has been in operation since 1861 and has the IAU code 035 . It was the successor to the Rundetårn observatory in Copenhagen.
