Bastorf manor

The Gutshof Bastorf is a former farmstead in Kühlungsborner Road 1 in Bastorf in the district of Rostock , about three kilometers from the coastal resort of Kuehlungsborn and six kilometers from the coastal resort of Rerik removed. The ensemble is a farm house and two barns under monument protection .

history

The origins of the manor go back to the 18th century. The western barn was built in 1750, when it served as stables and accommodation for the farmers. The barn was steadily expanded with more stables and haylofts. The farm supplied the residents of Bastorf with grain and other raw materials. Due to the steadily increasing demand, a second barn was built as a Low German hall house in 1820 .

Due to the increasing demand from the Baltic seaside resorts of Arendsee and Brunshaupten , which were growing as a result of spa tourism, at the end of the 19th century, the barns were used entirely for stables and the storage of goods such as hay and grain. A brick house was built north of the barns to accommodate the farming families. Since then, the manor has been used to take care of bathers in the surrounding seaside resorts.

In the 1930s, after the Wehrmacht's anti-aircraft gun school was established on the Wustrow peninsula near Rerik, the demand for raw materials for the soldiers stationed there increased. For this reason, several temporary shelters for agricultural machinery were built.

The estate survived the Second World War undamaged. In the first years after the war, the manor was used to supply the people in the area. In the second phase of land reform in agriculture in the GDR in the 1950s, the farm was integrated into the LPG . Due to the increasing industrialization of the agricultural sector in the GDR, large warehouses and livestock halls were built in Bastorf, so that the manor now only served as a building yard for the local LPG. Until the early 1990s, the yard was used to store cement and other building materials.

The manor was renovated between 1994 and 1997 and has been used as a family holiday farm ever since.
