history

Kühnpast KG was founded on July 1, 1870 in Striegau by Wilhelm Kühnpast to produce grain brandy. In 1904 the company was taken over by Oswald Kühnpast, who added liqueurs to the range in addition to the grain brandy . The oat grain was a particular specialty . In 1934 Gerhard Kühnpast took over the company, expanded the range and began producing fruit wines and syrups as well as sweet musts. The brandy Kühnpast Silber, Gold, Edel and the liqueur Kühnpast Edelkirsch and Peppermint were created.

The company suffered severe damage during the war until 1945. It was not until 1946 that Gerhard Kühnpast reopened the company in Saalfeld (Saale) and started producing spirits and lemonades. The state beverage office in Berlin commissioned Gerhard Kühnpast KG in 1954 with the bottling of wine on a contract basis. From 1958, the production of spirits was discontinued in favor of a soft drink made from imported wine. This drink called Vipa was sold in the districts of Gera, Erfurt and some districts of the district of Suhl.

After the founding of the German Democratic Republic, the company had to be re-established on October 1, 1960 with state participation. The capacities were constantly expanded to supply the population. In 1964, the distribution of wines, spirits and sparkling wines in bottles from imports for wholesalers in the districts of Gera, Erfurt and Suhl was added to the actual tasks.

The company had three production sites. The drink Vipa and the fruit juice drink Goldperle were produced at the first part of the company at Webergasse 31 in Saalfeld (Saale) . The bottling and dispatch station for imported grape wines was located in part II of the operation in Straße des Friedens 49 in Saalfeld (Saale). Part III. formed a wine warehouse at Bohnstrasse 1 in Saalfeld (Saale) with a storage capacity of 500,000 liters of wine in barrels and tanks as well as 300,000 imported wine, sparkling wine and spirits bottles.

In 1966, the company recorded its greatest success with the development of Furch juice drink gold pearl . It received excellent reviews at all tastings and was exhibited as the top product of the Gera district in the Berlin exhibition hall for the Seventh Party Congress of the SED . The State Drinks Office recognized the gold pearl with a certificate and a certificate as a quality product in 1967 and 1968. Finally, the company received the bowl of honor from the Economic Council of the Gera district and was also recognized by the Free German Trade Union Federation (FDGB). On July 1, 1970, the company celebrated its 100th anniversary at the company's headquarters in Webergasse 31, Saalfeld (Saale).
