The Künersberg faiences are faiences that were made in the 18th century by Jakob von Küner in the hamlet of the same name, Künersberg near Memmingen .

history

Jakob von Küner, who was born in Volkratshofen, began trying to make faience as early as 1744 , at that time in Krautgasse, on the edge of the old town. Due to the fire hazard that emanated from his ovens, the City Council of Memmingen allowed him to set up a factory near his country house in Künersberg on May 28, 1745 and gave him a ten-year privilege . In the same year, the manufactory moved to Künersberg with nine Oettinger porcelain makers. Emperor Franz I also gave him an imperial privilege for 10 years in 1746. In 1751 Jakob von Küner handed over the management to his son. However, like his father, he did not understand how to run the manufacture profitably. The manufacture was already closed in 1765, just one year after the founder Jakob von Küner died in Vienna.
