The Künischen free farmers settled in the 14th century , possibly already since the 11th century in the Künischen mountains , were subject to the king and emperor , cultivated the wilderness and secured the borders.

Since 1617 the area of ​​the Künischen free farmers consisted of the eight courts St. Katharina (Svatá Kateřina), Hammern ( Hamry ), Eisenstraß (Hojsova Stráž), Seewiesen (Javorná), Haidl (Zhůří), Kochet (Kochánov), Stadln (Stodůlky) and Stachau ( Stachy ). Since the 18th century, the royal free courts Altstadln, Neustadln and Stachau were united with the Stubenbach estate under protection .

As free farmers they had a number of privileges : B. no serfs and were allowed to hold their own courts . "Künisch" is derived from "the royal ones". In the course of the general peasant emancipation of the 19th century, their privileges became superfluous, which were abolished in 1848.

Their motto was: "Nobody's master and nobody's servant, that is the Künisch peasant law!"
