Kęstutis Kaunas

Kęstutis Kaunas (born April 19, 1942 ) is a Lithuanian chess player and chess coach.

Life

His trainer was Abramas Sulmanas (1902-1977). Kęstutis Kaunas works as a chess trainer and educator. From 2008 to 2011 he worked as a trainer at the sports school "Jaunalietuvių sporto organizacija" in Kaunas . He also worked at the "Varpo" high school in Kaunas. There he coached the school team that won the 2009 Olympic Festival of Lithuanian Schoolchildren. International master Tomas Laurušas is one of his students . Kaunas was head of the team "Margiris-2" of the chess club "Margiris" in Kaunas.

In 1998 Kaunas took part in the European Club Cup with ŠK Margiris Kaunas . At the team championship of the Soviet Union Republics, he was part of the Lithuanian selection in 1972 and 1975.

Kaunas has held the title of International Master since 1995.
