Kılıç Arslan III.
Kilij Arslan III. or Kylydsch Arslan ( Ottoman قلج أرسلان Kilic Arslan , DMG Qiliǧ Arslān , German 'lion sword ' , also Kilitsch Arslan , Qiliǧ-Arslan or Kilij Arslan ), with full name Izz ad-Din Kilidsch Arslan III. ( Turkish III. İzzedin Kılıç Arslan ), was a Seljuk sultan of rum and ruled the sultanate for eight months between 1204 and 1205.
He was the son of Suleiman II and succeeded his father to the throne in 1204 as a child. During this time the fourth crusade took place, during which Constantinople was conquered and the Latin Empire was founded. Kilij Arslans III. Rule was not recognized by his uncle Kai Chosrau I , who had been overthrown years earlier by Suleiman II. Kai Chosrau I. allied himself with the Danischmenden , who had conquered the fort of Isparta for him, and forced Kilij Arslan III. cede. So ended the reign of Kilij Arslan III. after just eight months. He was held prisoner by his uncle at Gevele Castle, where he later died.
