Kōichi Isoda

Kōichi Isoda ( Japanese 磯 田 光 一 , Isoda Kōichi ; born January 18, 1931 in Yokohama ; † February 5, 1987 ) was a Japanese literary critic and scholar.

Isoda studied English literature at Tokyo University . He established himself as a literary critic with a study of Mishima Yukio , Junkyō no bigaku (1964). He emerged with numerous essays on the influence of Western culture on Japanese tradition. For Rokumeikan no keifū he received the 1983 Yomiuri Literature Prize .
