Jim Van Bebber

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jim Van Bebber (born November 24, 1964 in Greenville , Ohio ) is an American filmmaker.

Life

Jim Van Bebber grew up in Ohio and started making films as a teenager. He graduated from Wright State University in Dayton , but left the university after a year without a degree. He used his student loan to finance his first feature film: the gang drama Deadbeat at Dawn . This was followed by the short film Roadkill: The Last Days of John Martin , which, according to the film critic Chas Balun, is a classic of the splatter film despite its short running time . In an essay published in German-speaking countries in the book Splatterpunk 2 , he celebrated Van Bebber in 1990 as the hope of the modern splatter film.

However, the work on the other films should take a long time. The Manson Family , announced in 1988 , was only released in 2003. The film is, as the title suggests, about Charles Manson and his "Family". Van Bebber had come to filmmaking in particular through the television film Helter Skelter .

In the meantime, Van Bebber shot music videos for Pantera , Superjoint Ritual , Skinny Puppy and Necrophagia, among others . In addition to his own productions, he was also active as an actor in The Mutilation Man (1998) and Zombie Cult Massacre (1998).
