Kōta Sugiyama ( Japanese 杉山 浩 太 Sugiyama Kōta ; born January 24, 1985 in Shizuoka Prefecture ) is a former Japanese football player .

Career

Sugiyama learned to play football in the youth team of Shimizu S-Pulse . He signed his first contract with Shimizu S-Pulse in 2003. The club played in the highest league in the country, the J1 League . In 2005 he reached the final of the Kaiser Cup . For the club he completed 61 first division games. In 2008 he was loaned to league rivals Kashiwa Reysol . In 2008 he reached the final of the Kaiser Cup. For the club he completed 34 first division games. In 2010 he returned to Shimizu S-Pulse. In 2010 he reached the final of the Kaiser Cup. In 2012 he reached the final of the J.League Cup . At the end of the 2015 season, the club was relegated to the J2 League . In 2016 he was runner-up in the J2 League with the club and was promoted back to the J1 League. For the club he completed 88 league games. At the end of 2017 he ended his career as a football player.
