K1010 was an online games portal with casual games founded in Reutlingen in April 2000 . It was relaunched in March 2010 and offered various online games , competitions , as well as community functions such as chat and small entertainment elements such as B. Horoscopes . The range of game formats ranged from word games and puzzles through card to action and bar games and could be used by paying a membership fee. The players could win material prizes through raffles every month .

In October 2014 the offer of K1010.de was switched off, u. a. because the editor in charge has retired. The games were then integrated into the offer of the Berlin provider Spielmit.de, the K1010.de website is currently (as of March 2015) forwarding to the new page with a farewell greeting.

From April 2004 to October 2006, K1010 was also an interactive TV transmitter (see also K1010 (TV transmitter ) ).

history

K1010 emerged from the company COMAD Computer Advertisement founded by Thorsten Rauser in Reutlingen in 1989 , which was later renamed Rauser Advertainment. Initially, the company, whose employees worked worldwide, developed advertising games for companies. Between 70 and 150 people worked in the company connecting television and the Internet. In April 2000 the game portal K1010 was finally launched as a "new mix of interactive games and multimedia entertainment" and thus the "first [m] Internet channel with interactive game shows" and has fast animations and new types of game shows that change daily Forms of advertising ("E-Mercials", see below) set a milestone in the entertainment sector on the Internet. When developing the online games, the website was based on television formats. Visitors to the site will find full-screen game shows such as "Klick Dich zum Glück", which is reminiscent of the television show " Wheel of Fortune ", or quiz games such as "The Smiley Show", programs such as " Who Wants to be a Millionaire? " Or " The Quiz with Jörg Pilawa ". Rauser Advertainment also took a new approach in terms of advertising. Similar to television, the games were interrupted by short, full-screen commercials ("e-mercials"). In certain quiz games, if the questions were answered correctly, lots could be won, with which something could be won every day. A daily horoscope, a regional weather report and TV tips and cooking recipes completed the offer. In December 2000, Rauser Advertainment was renamed K1010. A year later, the company expanded to the USA and, after only three months, was one of the third best independent games site (source: PC Data, 03/2001).

K1010 was originally an ad-supported, free game portal for users on the Internet. The financing concept failed, however, and K1010 was saved from bankruptcy in June 2001 when it was taken over by Berlin-based UV interactive Services GmbH . Since then, the company has been ad-free and financed through a membership fee . In January 2002, K1010 already had 270,000 registered players. In the meantime, a TV station with the same name was operated, but it ceased operations in 2006. During this time, the online portal remained active and was finally relaunched in March 2010. The layout of the site has been renewed and additional games have been added. There was also an expansion of the company towards Facebook , where K1010 made simplified versions of its games available as mini-games for free online and also for download.

concept

The games were programmed in Adobe Flash and accessible in full screen mode and online via any browser , are set to music and contain no advertising. Partly daily (e.g. crossword puzzles or KlickDichZumGlück), partly weekly (e.g. Alice's Wonderland) new puzzles, levels or quiz questions were added. The best players could compare themselves with others in high score lists . If the users had solved a game correctly or were among the best, they could receive virtual tickets with which they could take part in raffles. The winners of the monthly raffles could choose their winnings from the range of prizes on the portal themselves. The portal also contained a daily horoscope and offered the opportunity to introduce yourself to other players on the 'pin board' or to send them messages.
