KCBS is a Clear Channel Station based in San Francisco , California . KCBS broadcasts its all-news program on medium wave 740 kHz (KCBS) and on FM 106.9 MHz (KFRC-FM). The station is the flagship of CBS Radio (now part of Entercom ) in California. The program is produced like the television program of the CBS-TV station KPIX-TV (Channel 5) in de Battery Studios.

history

The history of KCBS is closely tied to that of broadcasting pioneer Charles "Doc" Herrold.

Channel

In 1953, KCBS built today's transmitter in Novato , 25 miles north of San Francisco. There are four transmission masts and the 50 kW transmitter. There is also a small studio in the transmitter, which can be used for broadcasting in emergencies.
