Entercom is one of the oldest US radio companies . Based in Bala Cynwyd , Pennsylvania , the company, founded in 1968, is the fourth largest radio company in the United States . Entercom operates 235 news and sports channels across the United States.
history
Entercom owned more than 125 radio stations in 27 media markets in all parts of the United States by 2016. The company had revenue of $ 114 million in the first quarter of 2015. In November 2017 Entercom took over the radio network CBS Radio , doubling its station portfolio to 235 stations. After the takeover, the group changed the program line of several former CBS stations to a greater extent in order to better position itself on the local radio markets against the competing groups and to avoid parallel structures.
Entercom Communications Corporation donated its commercial station KZZD to the Minority Media and Telecommunications Council (MMTC) in 2013, which converted it into a public radio station. The MMTC would like to use the radio stations to anchor diversity in US society. For example, MMTC supports women by advising them on how to design business projects. In addition, the MMTC has been using the KZZD as a training station since then.
