WFAN is a US radio station from New York City . It was the first "all-sports" station in the country and broadcasts on medium wave 660 kHz as a clear channel station .
At the same time, the broadcaster broadcasts its program on the VHF station WFAN-FM on VHF 101.9 MHz.
Sports cooperations
As a live sports reporter, WFAN broadcasts the baseball games of the New York Yankees , New York Giants , New Jersey Devils and Brooklyn Nets . The games cannot be streamed via the Internet because Major League Baseball , the National Basketball Association , the National Football League and the National Hockey League operate their own exclusive and paid distribution media.
history
The station began on October 7, 1988 as WEAF , later as WNBC . The station was the transmitter of the telecommunications company AT&T in New York. Another historical predecessor was the WHN station (1050 kHz). In 1987 WHN changed its callsign to WFAN , changed its format to a sports talk format and its frequency to 660 kHz.
Located on a small island northeast of Manhattan , WFAN shared the transmission systems with WCBS . Today both channels belong to CBS / Infinity and Entercom .
