WGR is an American radio broadcaster based in Buffalo , New York . WGR is the flagship station of the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabers and primarily broadcasts local sporting events.

WGR's studios are located in Amherst, New York . The studios of the Entercom sister broadcasters are also located there . The transmitter is in Hamburg, New York . Entercom owns a total of seven radio stations on the Buffalo radio market with WBEN , WKSE , WTSS , WWKB , WWWS and WLKK .

WGR went on the air in 1922 and was part of the NBC Red Network .

WGR transmits on medium wave 550 kHz with 5 kW.
