WWL is a US radio station based in New Orleans , Louisiana . It sends to 870 k Hz with 50 k W . WWL is owned by Entercom Communications . The station broadcasts a talk radio and sports format and has long been an affiliate of the CBS Radio Network . If the propagation conditions are favorable , the Clear Channel Station can be received in 40 US states .

In April 2006 WWL started a simulcast on VHF as WWL-FM on VHF 105.3 MHz.

history

WWL is the oldest active radio station in New Orleans. The station belonged to Loyola University . In the 1940s, following the restructuring of the frequency assignments by the FCC , WWL received the frequency 850 kHz.

program

WWL's programming consists of news programs, talk shows, sports coverage, and game shows. In-house productions are broadcast from 5 am to midnight. The Dave Ramsey Show is taken over as a syndication.

WWL accompanied the reconstruction after Hurricane Katrina  of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast with regional news and other programs.
