The devices are allowed to transmit on the Scandinavian Peninsula with a maximum power of up to 1  W ( ERP ). This means that the range under very good conditions is around five kilometers.

As with PMR and SRD devices, the maximum range of a KDR device strongly depends on the environment. Under the best conditions (from mountain peak to mountain peak or at sea) you can cover up to twelve kilometers. In heavily built-up areas, it is usually less than a kilometer away.
