history
Kemet is a spin-off from Union Carbide Corporation and was founded on April 1, 1987 as Kemet Electronics Corporation. Union Carbide Corporation initially held 50% of the shares. With the establishment of the Kemet Corporation on December 21, 1990, the Union Carbide Corporation also parted with these shares. In April 2006 the takeover of Epcos tantalum capacitors was completed. In 2007 the film capacitors (Evox Rifa, Arcotronics) and Aluminum Electrolytics (BHC, Evox Rifa) product lines were added to the group. In 2017, the company's headquarters moved from Greenville , South Carolina to Fort Lauderdale, Florida .
