KK Dubrava is a basketball club from the Zagreb district of Dubrava, Croatia .

The club currently plays in the Croatian first division ( A-1 league ).

history

KK Dubrava is next to KK Zagreb , KK Cedevita and Cibona Zagreb the fourth club from Zagreb in the first Croatian league.

When the club was founded in 1976 by some basketball lovers, its successes (member of the first division and participant in international competitions) were not in sight. For ten years, KK Dubrava played in the lower leagues, until they achieved their first major success in 1986 with third place at the national junior championship in Split . A year later, the club even became champions among the juniors. The senior team made it into the first Croatian league in the 1988/1989 season (which was then the second league of Yugoslavia).

After the civil war and the subsequent independence, a new league was founded in Croatia. KK Dubrava was incorporated into the A2 league. When the league was expanded for the 1993/1994 season, it was allowed to move up to the A1 league, in which the club continues to play (with the exception of the 2005/2006 season).

From 1993 to 1996 the association was sponsored by Benson (main sponsor from the tobacco industry). During this period, the KK Dubrava made it onto the European stage in the 1995/1996 season. Between 1999 and 2002 the club was called DONA (sponsor) . The departure of the main sponsor led to relegation in 2005 after great difficulties, which was followed by direct resurgence in 2006.

Despite all the problems, KK Dubrava continues to work well with young people.
