The Croatian women's basketball team (2012)

Game system

In the main round of the Croatian basketball league (A1 league), the regular season is played without the top teams. The top-ranked clubs of the last season (currently there are four clubs) play the main round in the ABA league . Only after this league has been played to the end do you join the domestic league. The ABA League is a supra-regional league that includes the best clubs in the former Yugoslavia . In the domestic league, the first four teams after the first and second round are put into an intermediate round with the four participants in the ABA league. The four best teams in the intermediate round qualify for the Final Four. If you do poorly in the ABA league overall, the respective country will get fewer starting places in the league. Croatia currently has four starting positions, but only because the participants from Macedonia did not start this season.

Distribution of points

The participants for the next season in the European leagues are determined by the distribution of points in the current season. You can collect points in all competitions in which you take part. Since Croatia is only allowed to send one participant to the European League, he must collect the most points in all competitions. The following is an overview of the individual competitions with possible points that can be achieved.

Croatian championship

First 10 clubs from Croatia play a round trip. The top four then meet in an eighth mini-league against the current four Croatian representatives in the ABA league (the ABA league is a supraregional league and is higher than the Croatian championship). In this mini master league you can achieve the following points by placing:

1st place - 35 pts 2nd place - 27 pts 3rd place - 19 pts 4th place - 9 pts

Kup Krešimira Ćosića - Croatian Cup

Again, only Croatians take part in the competition. Participants are from the ABA league, the Croatian first and second division. Points as follows:

Winner - 5 points Finalist - 3 points Semi-finalist - 1 point

NLB liga (ABA league)

This is a national competition in which clubs from Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia and Montenegro participate. In the past there were also visiting clubs in this competition, for example Maccabi Tel Aviv from Israel and CEZ Nymburk from the Czech Republic. With a good placement in the current competition with 16 teams you can already achieve points, the first four from the current competition take part in the Final Four and thus receive the most points, distribution as follows:

1st place - 40 points 2nd place - 35 points 3rd place - 30 points 4th place - 25 points 5th place - 20 points 6th place - 15 points 7th place - 10 points 8th place - 5 points

Euroliga

The highest European competition. Each participant already receives 5 points for participation. If you reach the top 16, you get 10 points. Quarter-finals and final four can be seen below:

Final Four - 20 pts Quarter-finals - 15 pts Top 16 - 10 pts Regular season - 5 pts

Eurocup

The second strongest European competition. Here, too, there are already 2 points for participation. The distribution of the other points as follows: Semi-finals - 8 points Quarter-finals - 6 points Round of 16 - 4 points Regular season - 2 points

The winner in this competition is automatically qualified for the Euroliga.

Eurochallenge

The weakest European competition. Here, too, there is 1 point for participation in the starting phase. the rest see table:

Semi-finals - 4 points Quarter-finals - 3 points Round of 16 - 2 points Regular season - 1 point
