KREV ("92.7 REV The Revolution") is a Top 40 music station based in Alameda , California . The radio station supplies the San Francisco Bay Area . It sends to 92.7 M Hz with 6 k W . The current owner is Golden State Broadcasting LLC .

The station has been broadcasting since August 1959 and was licensed as KJAZ. For a long time it was one of the most famous radio stations in California and as such hosted numerous popular jazz musicians. KJAZ is or was considered "San Francisco's legendary jazz radio". When KJAZ found itself in financial distress, listeners raised $ 1.5 million but were unable to avert the cessation of broadcasting. In August 1994 the station finally ceased operations after 35 years. There were u. a. Dizzy Gillespie , Ahmad Jamal , Carmen McRae , Tony Bennett , Stan Getz , Bill Cosby and Herbie Hancock have performed.

The successor is now the pop channel KREV.
